My primary focus is on children, adolescents and young adults, particularly those with ADHD, autism, PDA and specific learning disorders like dyslexia. I also offer psychoeducation for parents to support anxious and neurodivergent children and teens and educational assessments to identify learning barriers and help individuals reach their full potential.
My journey in psychology began in education, where I spent 10 years as a high school teacher before pursuing my passion for understanding the brain and supporting students with barriers to learning. I’ve run my own private practice for the past six years (in South Africa), working across both assessment and therapy. I have a Master of Social Sciences in Educational Psychology (South Africa) and am working towards general registration* in Australia after a brief period of supervised practice.
*Rozanne currently has provisional registration with AHPRA in Australia.
I know how much courage it takes to seek support and I strive to create a safe, non-judgemental space where clients feel comfortable, heard and accepted. I value a compassionate and holistic approach, always aiming to get an accurate understanding of each client's needs. When working with children and parents, I focus on identifying the underlying needs behind behaviours—as true progress comes from addressing causes rather than symptoms. I use a non-directive approach with children, incorporating creative and engaging methods to help them express emotions they may struggle to verbalise. Accurate diagnosis is key to guiding effective intervention, and I am committed to advocating for my clients, even when it requires open and sometimes difficult conversations with key stakeholders.
Being a psychologist is a privilege, allowing me to support families as they navigate the unknown in a safe and supportive way. My greatest reward comes from helping individuals reach their potential and therapeutic goals. Guiding clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, build resilience, develop autonomy and recognise their self-worth is incredibly fulfilling. Witnessing this growth and transformation is what makes this work so meaningful.
I’m looking forward to working with the incredible team at Scope. The ethos of the practice provides a warm, welcoming environment where all practitioners are well- supported and equipped to allow clients access to the highest level of support and expertise.
I am a wife and mother of two boys who have taught me many life lessons. Our family enjoys going on camping trips and exploring our surroundings. Having recently immigrated to Australia from South Africa, we cannot wait to see what Queensland has to offer. I also enjoy reading and spending time in the garden.
